Introduction to Screen Printing Workshop March 10th
Instructor : Mike Kimball

In this introductory workshop, students will learn about the history and process of the screen print and come away with that knowledge as well as a small print of your own!
You will take the knowledge gained in a seminar and demo and then be given a hands on guided tour through the screen print process. You will learn two techniques for creating stencil separations,
and employ those to create a small edition of a two color print.
Inks, paper and basic materials are provided.

Screen printing Intensive: Beginning - Intermediate personal project workshop: April

Saturday & Sunday April 7th and 8th : 9am - 5pm
This 2 day weekend intensive workshop is great for first timers or experienced printers. You will learn the process start to finish, and some new and more experimental techniques will also be demonstrated. Students, with the instructors guidance, will then come up with a project to complete for the workshop. This can range from traditional editions, to mono prints, to mixed media.
The class size is limited to 4 students so you will be getting a lot of personal attention and specific training from your instructor.

Six-week course March - April: Overprinting, registration and special colors: Techniques for multiple color prints

This six-week course goes in-depth into the fundamentals of
screen printing from start to finish. The class size is very small so
you will be getting a lot of personal attention and specific
training from your instructor. You will learn special techniques for printing with
opaque, metallic and translucent colors, and the creation of additional colors through overprinting.
During the course you will create at least two multi-layered
editions of prints.

The Instructors:

Hilary Williams first learned the screen printing process at California College of the Arts where she received her BA in Printmaking in 2002. She is a recipient of the Yozo Hamaguchi scholarship and the prestigious Trillium Prize. She has specialized and worked in this medium ever since first discovering it. Hilary currently creates many limited edition fine art screen prints that show in galleries through out the greater Bay Area and west coast. Please peruse this web site to see more of her work.
 
Mike Kimball is a San Francisco painter and printmaker. He is a graduate of the California College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC), where he received the Yozo Hamaguchi scholarship for printmaking excellence. Kimball has completed artist residencies at the Kala Institute in Berkeley, Ca and the Frans Masereel Center for Printmaking in Belgium.
